Description
Series of four stackable chairs, design by Hans Wegner (1914-2007). Model called "Kodlinghus" published by Getama in Denmark in the 1970s. Natural beech wood and polyester straps. (note a few marks on a folder, see detail photo). Kodlinghus was a royal castle in Denmark built in the 13th century and expanded over the following centuries. During the Napoleonic Wars, one morning in the winter of 1808, a fire broke out there, leading to the destruction of a large part of the buildings. The presence of Spanish soldiers in the castle, unaccustomed to the cold of the north, is believed to be the cause of the fire. At the time France, Spain and Denmark were allies and fought in the region against Sweden and England. Long later it was finally decided to rebuild the castle and transform it into a museum, it was inaugurated in 1991. Hans Wegner was appointed to create the chairs intended for the public in the rooms of the castle, of which he created different versions.
