Curule chair, style Louis XVI era 1900 X base. The caning is in good condition. Patina color flax. Dimensions, height 52cm, seat height 30cm, width 59cm, depth 37cm. Small history of the curule Chair: the curule seat (sella curulis, currus, "chariot" in latin) is a symbol of power in ancient Rome, which could sit the judges and Roman promagistrats with the imperium (power to compel and) (punishing), i.e. the consuls, dictators, masters of cavalry, lenders, and the curule aediles. According to Plutarch, only the exercise of a judicial entitling a curule Chair allowed a customer to escape the guardianship of her boss [1]. The Flamen of Jupiter (flamen dialis) was also right to stick. If Jules César has been allowed to sit on a curule seat made of gold, it was traditionally made of silver, with the feet curved forming a wide X folder without armrests. The seat could not be folded and transported.
