Superb and rare victorian style beech armchair with hand turned spindle back and its crest with the north wind face flanked by a scroll decoration of the north wind face, these chairs are also known as hearth chairs or caquetoire this type of furniture was popularized in the 19th and early 20th centuries, often representing the wind god aeolus carved into the back of a chair.
