Large japanese dish "inban" decorated with two cranes and cherry trees / taisho period 1912. This porcelain dish has a blue monochrome decoration applied by transfer -inban-. This is a porcelain plate made from the beginning of the 20th century, in 1912 in the arita region. This is a large, heavy plate made to be a serving plate. The edge of the plate is scalloped and painted brown. Plates with this type of edge are called "igezara". Igezara were made for a few decades from the 1890s to the 1930s in the arita region. There is no potter's mark underneath. This type of blue is called "bero-ai" (short for "berlin indigo"). It is prussian blue which arrived in japan in the 18th century and became a popular color among potters in the 19th century. Many japanese porcelains were painted in this blue. Dimensions: diameter 31 cm height 4.2 cm weight 1.4 kilos.
