Foldable fruit basket basket, artisanal trivet

Trivet or basket once unfolded, this object is quite incredible, I would really like to know who first had this ingenious idea! The one I am offering you is old, it must date from the 70s, it was made by hand using a scroll saw and by hand. We see this in several details: the drilling in the center which is obligatory to subsequently insert the wire of the scroll saw, if no drilling it is because the cutting was made with the laser cutting machine following a computer file.the cutting itself which is, in the case of artisanal work, not exactly regular: the hand of the craftsman will inevitably reveal differences in thickness. And finally the work of the edges, the edge of the basket part and the handle part, which here clearly shows the work of the wood, its hand sculpture with its curves but also its irregularities, the wood is not regular, the craftsman must adapt to it to work it. This basket is in very good condition, no cracks, just a number 6 visible at the bottom of the basket and under the peripheral part (not visible therefore), I think it is a mark which allowed the craftsman to know which pieces went together, which pieces came from the same piece of wood, when he made several at the same time. It measures approximately 29cm in length, 16cm in width, 20cm in height when unfolded.
