Superb oil painting on canvas from the mid-20th century, circa 1950, signed lower right r.legrand. It represents a still life with pears and a ceramic pitcher. Raymond legrand (1929-1999) was a painter born in arras, student at the douai school of art then at the fine arts in paris in the studio of eugène narbonne, a year after his illustrious predecessor bernard buffet. We can compare him to the group of "rebellious" painters of the post-war period, who refused the dictate of abstraction.
