Mother of pearl opera glasses

Old mother-of-pearl opera glasses, made by chevalier opticien, paris. A beautiful decor piece with the shimmering, opalescent mother-of-pearl against the golden brass. The glasses can be detached from the handle by a barrel screw mechanism, for storage or to change the handle to be left or right handed. The handle also unscrews into 2 parts. A lovely piece, capturing the lifestyle of the turn of the last century. In a very good state for their age. The brass has some light oxidation, and a few small spots of the black on one lens rim has eroded.
