Art deco / neo-classical style, france, 1940s / 1950s. Attributed to maison jansen. Maison jansen, founded in 1880 by jean-henri jansen, is a french interior design house characterized by both a strong interest in traditional furniture and the creation of more contemporary pieces. The house has worked for numerous institutions and personalities such as the white house under jf kennedy, the english (elizabeth ii, edward vii, edward viii), spanish, belgian and saudi royalty, prince aga khan, coco chanel, pierre cardin, the maison rothschild, brigitte bardot, the opéra garnier, etc. When it was created, jansen only resold existing furniture. It was at the beginning of the 1940s that the house opened its own workshops. In 1971, she joined the leleu-deshays house. But little by little maison jansen is no longer able to adapt to societal changes and changing tastes. She lost her clientele and closed her doors in 1989. However, her creations are still very present on the international market and in auction rooms. Dimensions: height 47cm diameter 91cm diameter of the marble: 78 cm.
